Large and strong originals like this tanto, the so called Yoroidoshi (literally: through the armour) were used on the battle field to pierce through armour in close combat. This tanto has a length of 50 cm with a blade of 32 cm and a grip (tsuka) of 17,5 cm. It weighs 500 g.
